Khaossia - De migratione

Khaossia started their career in 2005 wanting to promote Salento’s traditional music, with pizzica at its core. Soon the band moved to produce original pieces. The philosophy behind all of Khaossia’s projects is to begin with Salento’s history, culture and tradition to explore sounds that are old and new, near and far. Through this musical exploration, Khaossia looks for a suitable vehicle to bring back to light dusty and forgotten pages of Salento’s history. Khaossia has always enjoyed critical acclaim for their efforts to bring back and give a new interpretation to Salento’s history and tradition.

Pìvari trio - Passa ripassa

La zona de los Apeninos en la provincia de Módena es muy rica en tradición musical y esta banda remonta sus pasos más relevantes, ofreciendo así una reinterpretación apasionada y filológica. No es una obra hagiográfica de todos modos, sino la oportunidad de volver a tomar posesión de un repertorio y darle forma al gusto de este conjunto.

Abnoba-Vai Facile

Vai facile takes hold from the first listen, and has the qualities to enchant both folk music afficionados and those in search of more modern sonorities. But far from being a mere hybrid mishmash of styles, ABNOBA’s music is perfectly balanced, forging a wide variety of sounds into solidly constructed original pieces that are unashamed of their folk roots (in Northern Italy and elsewhere) while having their sights clearly set on the future. As the band’s members says “ABNOBA’s music is the fruit of artistic research whose aim isn’t so much to rediscover or reappropriate a particular folk repertoire as to provide the raw materials for composition and improvisation, creating a real evolution in folk music.

” On Vai facile, these three foundation stones of tradition, compostion and improvisation come into perfect alignment. Hours of amusement can be had tracing the myriad different shadings and musical fragments that are brought together to form a music of great stylistic cohesion. One of the band’s intentions is in fact to interweave musical cultures from past and present, to come up with melodies inspired by the Italian and French traditions and fuse them with influences ranging from jazz and Balcan music, to classical harmony and funk. It was in the summer of 2004 that Vincent Boniface (clarinet, bagpipes, flutes), Simone Bottasso (melodeons), Paolo Dall’Ara (bagpipes, flutes, tarota), Pietro Numico (piano), Marco “Mammo” Inaudi (bass guitar) and Giovanni “Zap” Delfino (percussion) had the idea to form ABNOBA.

These young musicians, all from Northern Italy, who had previously been involved in projects and collaborations both in Italy and abroad decided they wanted to follow in the footsteps of groups like Harmoniraptus, Stygiens and the Suriscot Trio. Harnessing their experience and knoweldge they started from their own ethnic background using classical folk instruments but modifying and adapting them and using new techniques to extend their possibilities. ABNOBA’s aim is partly “to try to create an Italian avant-folk whose sounds and ideas will attract a wider audience not necessarily au fait with the history of the instruments used.”

O grupo TANCARUJA nasceu de um projeto de Pino Martini, autor das músicas e textos, que vive entre Milano e Seneghe, e que apesar de sua múltipla atividade artística, não abandonou o estudo da música e da poesia de sua terra. Os outros membros do grupo vivem na região de Cagliari.

Assim como na Sardegna, os TANCARUJA, apresentam-se no “continente”, onde são aceitos com grande entusiasmo do público que se deixa sempre envolver pela sonoridade intensa e pelo ritmo dançante do grupo.

Entre 2001 e 2005 o grupo participou de diversos festivais, competitivos, ou de exposição, obteve prêmios expressivos e principalmente o reconhecimento internacional.

TANCARUJA faz uma música de “proposta” e não somente uma música de divulgação ou de reminiscências. Seu trabalho é fruto de vários anos de pesquisas, apaixonado não só pelo tipo filológico ou documentativo, mas que pressupõe, também, o conhecimento atento e profundo do material musical da musica Sarda, devido à audição contínua e ao estudo dos mestres das tradições, e também utilizando a memória histórica e musical dos anciões.

Tudo isto gera um material sem estereótipos, mas cheio de “contaminações” e de influências, onde a tradição se funde com a inovação, para uma proposta que quer ser original, porém partindo de uma forte referência da tradição. O desafio é alcançar um equilíbrio entre o rigor estético da tradição e a liberdade da inovação.
