George Mamua Telek, comúnmente conocido simplemente como Telek es un músico y cantante de Papúa Nueva Guinea .

Nacido en 1959 en la localidad de Barovon, cerca de Kokopo, en la provincia de New Britain, Telek es uno de los pocos cantantes de Papúa Nueva Guinea que obtuvo una cita internacional. Telek cantó con varias bandas en Papua Nueva Guinea al principio de su carrera - en particular con el grupo Painim Wok donde cantó la voz principal. Telek conoció a David Bridie de la banda australiana Not Drowning, Waving , y se grabó el álbum de gran éxito Tabaran.

Telek grabó su primer disco en solitario, telek fuera de Papua Nueva Guinea en 1997. Este álbum ganó un ARIA premio a la categoría de World Music. Grabó su segundo álbum internacional serio Tam en 2000 en Peter Gabriel 's estudios Real World en Inglaterra . Él siguió con Amette, que fue lanzado en 2004. George Telek - Serious Tam 

The most interesting dynamic of Telek's Serious Tam is that it's on Real World Records. The label, co-founded in 1989 by Peter Gabriel and WOMAD (World of Music Art and Dance), provides global artists with the access to state of the art recording technology and audiences beyond their region. George Telek originates from the village of Raluana, near Rabaul on the Papua New Guinean island of New Britain. Telek was an already established artist on his native island and had recorded several albums before Gabriel asked him to record for Real World. Translated, most of the songs on Serious Tam are about the common themes of daily life and passionate love. This a definite global pop album with an ethnic twist. Serious Tam's tribal drum sounds and simplicity will take the listener to a better, more serene place.
